Getting ItemId of saved meeting response

Hi,
I am saving an AcceptItem with a CreateItem Operation. According to the documentation (April 2007), the ItemId should be returned in the response if I use a MessageDisposition of “SaveOnly”.

The meeting response is saved to the draft folder but I do not get the ItemId to it in the response. Is this a bug or do I need to do something else?

The Response Objects have a different set of behavior when used with CreateItem vs. other object types (Item, Contact, CalendarItem, etc…) In your situation you will not see an ItemId returned in the CreateItem response.

The problem stems from the fact that using ResponseObjects with MeetingRequests can cause two items to be created.
1.) The Meeting Message to be sent back to the Organizer
2.) A new Calendar Item representing the updated MyResponseType

Currently, to avoid potential confusion, we are returning neither newly created ItemId. We are re-visiting this decision however, and looking to address it in our next service pack.

I can see how the documentation misled you here though, I’ve contacted the doc team to see if we clear up some of this confusion around using ResponseObjects on MeetingRequests/CalendarItems and the role of the MessageDisposition attribute.
